Data Centers
UIS subscribes to the Uptime Institute tiering system for enterprise data centers, and as such feels confident in assigning a Tier ranking to each UIS facility.
UIS also believes that it is best not to force fit an enterprise into a facility type, therefore UIS maintains a portfolio of Tier II, Tier II/III, Tier III and Tier III/IV data centers for our clients.
Regardless of Tier, UIS data centers have the following common characteristics:
Security: All UIS data centers have 24x7x365 on-site security teams. UIS data centers are tied into a single security management and reporting system that allows the operations team instant access to security data and logs. Each UIS data center has key card and/ or biometric access devices for optimal facilities control. Video surveillance is in place in every UIS data center.
Environmental: At a minimum, UIS data centers cooling and chilling systems are designed for N+1 redundancy. All environmental systems are tied into a Unified monitoring system allowing UIS engineers global vision into the data centers. All UIS data centers have, at a minimum, smoke detection and dry-pipe pre-action systems for fire suppression.
Power: UIS data centers are planned and designed with N+1 power systems. A & B side UPS, ATS and generator systems are in place in every UIS data center. Each UIS data center space is designed to provide a minimum of 1.5 Megawatts for each 10,000 square feet.
Telecommunications: Each UIS data center has diverse and redundant telecom entry points. Multiple Tier I carriers service each facility. UIS offers a multi-homed IP blend at each facility and also facilitates the direct relationship between enterprise and carrier.
